EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2022 – CARES ACT FUNDS HAVE RUN OUT

Attention UPMC members: UPMC is no longer allowing our facility to electronically bill for the administration of the COVID-19 monoclonal antibody infusions. They are asking us to mail in hard copy, paper claims for all UPMC members, which in this day and age, and due to the high number of UPMC members we are treating, is simply unreasonable.

We have made repeated attempts to work with UPMC and resolve this issue. Effective immediately, UPMC members will be charged the $450 administration fee that Medicare has set as the basis for providers. You can pay in cash or credit card. Checks will not be accepted.

Olympus Infusions will provide you with a prepopulated UPMC reimbursement form for patients to submit with their receipt to UPMC for reimbursement, and a pre-addressed envelope to make this as easy as possible for UPMC members.

We apologize for this inconvenience and are still doing everything that we can to resolve this matter with UPMC.

Prior to 2022, COVID-19 therapies were supposed to be covered 100% by either Medicare or your insurance through the CARES Act and we are still fighting insurance companies to follow those obligations for all claims submitted in 2021. Unfortunately this changed in 2022, and some insurance companies are now applying your annual deductible towards the services that Olympus infusions is providing – just like any other medical provider. This is out of our control.

If you receive an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) for any services rendered in 2022 – you are responsible for your deductible, and we will have to collect it from you. Due to these unexpected costs being put on to our patients by the payers, and to try and minimize the total out of pocket expenses, you will be responsible for a total fee of 450.00 for the monoclonal antibody treatment that you received.

Olympus infusions is currently providing bebtelovimab – the only currently EUA approved monoclonal antibody for the treatment of COVID-19.

Guidelines for bebtelovimab can be found here: https://pi.lilly.com/eua/bebtelovimab-eua-factsheet-hcp.pdf

Olympus infusions is also providing Evusheld – a 6 month prophylactic monoclonal antibody for immune compromised patients.

Guidelines for Evusheld can be found here: https://www.fda.gov/media/154701/download

Before making an appointment Olympus Infusions recommends that you inform your primary care physician if you have tested positive for COVID-19, or have been in direct contact with someone that has. You and your doctor can then make an informed decision regarding receiving a monoclonal antibody infusion. We also recommend following up with your PCP after receiving the therapy, and letting them know how you are feeling.

If the viral protein(s) important to provide protection from infection or disease, and thus for inclusion in a vaccine (that is, the vaccine antigen), is known the availability of coding sequences for this viral protein(s) serves to start…
